How is crypto classified in my portfolio?

In the PDT, we give each effect several characteristics. Think of sectors, countries, currencies, stock exchanges or types of effects. By combining all these effect characteristics, we can show whether your portfolio is well diversified. We do this on the portfolio page.

For crypto, assigning these characteristics works slightly differently than for shares or ETFs. We are happy to explain to you which choices we have made.

Sector

Cryptocurrencies are difficult to assign to a sector. Although most coins could be labelled as 'financial services', this does not apply to all coins which makes it too short-sighted to assign all cryptocurrencies to this characteristic. That is why a separate sector called 'crypto' can be found in this section.

Country

The network that supports cryptocurrencies, the Blockchain, is 'kept in the air' for most cryptos by so-called Nodes (connected computers). Because Nodes can contribute to maintaining the network anywhere in the world, it is difficult to assign a specific crypto to a specific country. Here too, a separate country called 'Crypto' can be chosen.

Currencies

The currency is determined by the currency with which you purchased the cryptocurrency.

Stock market

Compared to stocks and ETFs, you don't buy cryptocurrencies on a specific stock market. In order to include cryptocurrencies in the comparison, we refer to them as a separate exchange called 'crypto'.
